Storytelling Can Go Beyond The Book

During our January Family Coalition Meeting families learned just how. Guided by Jacque Viol, a retired youth specialist with the KDL, they were read “The Missing Mitten Mystery”. They listened as Annie and her dog Oscar, journey through the neighborhood together to find her red missing mitten.

Once the story was over, they were able to create a snowman using felt pizza boxes. They were given all the supplies and used their imagination to make a snowman. Tons of giggles and concentration went into these snowmen. Each child was focused and some great snowmen were created.

They were able to keep all the supplies and their own copy of the book. They will be able to create characters from other stories as well as create their own story using the felt board and felt pieces.
