Diaper Drive

Every parent deserves access to basic necessities. And every baby deserves to be clean, dry, and healthy. At Great Start Collaborative of Kent County, we’ve made it one of our greatest priorities to empower families and offer much needed support. We’re committed to keeping children covered at all stages in life, ensuring success from the very beginning.

Since 2009, The Great Start Family Coalition has collected over 1 million diapers (and counting!) to assist families who struggle with diaper supply. We thank our current and previous partners for their generous donations and continue to call others in our community to aid our initiative. The Facts

The Facts

1 out of every 4 babies in Kent County is born into poverty.

Safety net programs, such as W.I.C. and food stamps, do not cover the cost of diapers.

A sufficient supply of disposable diapers can cost up to $75 per month.

The Impacts

The Impacts

Many babies are often forced to spend the entire day or longer in a single diaper because families cannot afford to buy an adequate supply.

Babies who remain in soiled diapers are exposed to greater health risks, as well as the risk of physical abuse by the caregiver.
