Partner Spotlight: Grand Rapids Public Museum

What programs do you offer for young children and their families?

We have our Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family Exhibit running from October 11-April 26. This exhibit is free with general Admission and includes life-size Tyrannosaur cast skeletons and dioramas as well as a variety of specimen and fossil. Perfect for dinosaur lovers of all ages. We also will be offering a variety of themed programs (free with admission) during the run of this exhibit.

How do families enroll in your programs?

Kent county kids (17 and under) are free to the Museum. We also offer free parking to Kent country residents. The Museum also participates in Museums for All allowing those receiving food assistance (SNAP) benefits to visit for $2 per person, up to 4 people. With the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.

How does your organization use parent voice to inform your programs?

We rely on a variety of surveys to collect data about programing. We also talk with program guests to gather feedback to guide future programing.

What do you most appreciate about your GSC membership?

I appreciate being a part of a dynamic group coming together to ensure that young children in our community are being well supported. As a parent of a toddler, I have loved hearing about the different resources and programs in the community.
