Partner Spotlight: Coalition For Healthy Homes
What programs do you offer for young children and their families?
We offer a range of essential services that directly impact children’s health and create safer living environments for families:
- Direct Services: Conducting home assessments to identify and remediate harmful conditions such as lead, unintentional injury, and poor air quality.
- Community Education: Empowering families with the knowledge and resources they need to protect their homes and health.
- Advocacy: Working on behalf of children and families, advocating for stronger housing policies and practices that ensure every home is a healthy one.
How do families enroll in your programs?
Families can inquire about our services by calling us at 616.241.3300 or emailing intake@hhcwm.org
How does your organization use parent voice to inform your programs?
Parent feedback is utilized in many aspects of our programming. Case management support includes a family-centered action plan that identifies action steps in addressing the identified hazards. We also collect pre- and post-program survey data to assist with informing our programming. We host Community Ambassador Meetings, which are a unique group of community members who are passionate about advocacy for change. We also offer COFI (Community Organization Family and Individual) sessions. COFI’s model is based on teaching, supporting and uplifting community members on their advocacy journey. These groups are offered to all parents we serve and are made up of parents with unique and diverse experiences.
What do you most appreciate about your GSC membership?
We most appreciate the opportunity to meet and hear from other leaders in the area that share a common goal of ensuring the holistic needs of children are met. Our connections with partnering agencies in this space make our work possible.
